God is Greater than our Enemy

by Pastor Isaias T. Songcuan Jr.

There are some ways satan seeks your Destructions. In 1 Peter 5:8, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (NIV).” Meaning, we have to be mentally self-controlled, awake and watchful because we are faced with a powerful adversary. We must be constantly alert to the fact that satan is working overtime to see our downfall or weakening.  He will never stop until you are completely depleted, or completely drained out.

He will tempt us with many things. In 1 Corinthians 7:5, “Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control (NIV).” He will try to divert your attention with worldly things.  In 1 John 2:15-16, “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world (NIV).”  The cravings of nature of man are the lust of the eye, and boasting of accomplishments does not comes from the Father, but from the world. There is Nothing in the “system of this world” that is of God, nothing! The “Lust of the eyes” are desires of what it sees, and the “pride of life” is trusting on its own power, resources that shamefully despises and violates divine laws and human rights. These things have the system of the world as their source, and not acknowledging our Heavenly Father.

We are a people who are easily distracted especially by new, shinny and exciting things. Therefore, satan will use the beautiful things even good things to draw our attention and devotion away from Jesus.

Satan can never take away our salvation. God is greater and will lose none who belong to Him. However, satan can do a lot of damage and cripple or disable us in our quest for togetherness with God, and personal holiness. Therefore, we must be alert and vigilant because satan will attack when we are not ready.   In 2 Corinthians 2:11, “For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God (NIV).” If we obey the Holy Word of God, satan will have no advantage. God has not left or abandoned us defenseless.  He has given us an armor that we must know and wear at all times.  In Ephesians 6:1, “For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God (NIV).”

Someday, we will be able to trade in our armor for a royal robe, and a crown. The battles will be a part of the past will never ever be remembered our future will hold nothing but Peace and  Joy. Until then, we must encourage each other not to give up in the fight or to run in fear which will not last for a long period of time. We have the most powerful God in our side. we have nothing to fear for God said in 1 John 4:4, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world (NIV).”

As our conclusion, in Isaiah 41:10, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (NIV).”

To God be the Glory!
