Why Should I Accept Jesus Christ as my Lord & Savior?

by: Pastor Isaias T. Songcuan Jr.

It is aggressively revealed in the scripture that only those who are born again signifies the sheep of our Lord Jesus (John 10:1-18). These are the ones who hears His Voice, and will not follow the voice of strangers (John 10:5 ). Their ears and their feet are trained to hear and obey the voice of the shepherd. They are also trained to walk in His footsteps. There are numerous blessings and benefits that are promised in the Scripture for anyone who makes Jesus his or her shepherd in their lives. These are 7 blessings and benefits if Jesus Christ is your Shepherd:

1) Salvation:

In Hebrews 7:25 says, “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them (NKJV).” In other words, Jesus will lead all those who follow Him into the Kingdom of God.

2.) Eternal Life:

The Holy Bible says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (NIV).” In short, anyone who receives Jesus Christ in their life to be their Lord and Savior has Eternal Life in Heaven where no more pain, sorrows and death (Revelation 21:4).

3). Abundant life:

It is written in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly (NKJV).” The beginning of abundant life experience in Christ is Salvation. For instance, anyone who believes in Him is saved from sicknesses, diseases, saved from poverty, and in spiritual life (3 John 1:2 ). The Holy Scriptures states, “as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue (2 Peter 1:3, NKJV).” Moreover , in Psalms 23:5, “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over (NKJV).” Jesus is able to prepare a table for His sheep, even in the presence of their enemies. Let us see Psalms 23:6, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever (NKJV).” This is the assurance of God’s sheep that He will not refuse or deny any good things from his sheep.

4). Divine Guidance:

Jesus is Omniscient, meaning He knows everything. In Proverbs 15:3 says, “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good (KJV).” Therefore, God is able to lead and guide his sheep. He knows the end from the beginning, He knows before hand or in advance to the outcome of any plan or project that His sheep will undertake. He is very much aware of the road that apparently seems promising and encouraging at the beginning, but which may later pose serious danger to His sheep. Jesus has the ability to prevent and stop the danger, and lead the sheep in the paths of righteousness and safety. Jesus is eager to lead His sheep to the paths that will guarantee success, happiness, joy, peace, and everlasting satisfaction.

5) . Divine Protection:

The good Shepherd offers divine protection to the sheep . Jesus laid down His life to protect the sheep from satan, whose whole aim is to destroy the sheep. However, Jesus guarantees the protection for His sheep from all forces of evil , such as native doctors (Quack-quack doctors), witches, wizards, and the occultist power. There is no limitation as regards the extent to which Jesus protects His sheep. He is omnipotent. In other words, He is all powerful. Therefore the protection of the sheep is guaranteed in full. In Isaiah 54:17, “But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you (NLT).” These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord.

6). Peace:

In Isaiah 9:6b says, “He is the Prince of peace.” Jesus said in John 14:27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid (NLT).” In all situations of life , we have the peace of Jesus .

7). Victory:

The temptations, trials, and difficulties of life can only be overcome through the leading of the Good shepherd, Jesus Christ. In Him and in Him alone, we are more than conquerors in every situations in life. The scripture is full of all God’s promises for His sheep. The sheep must bear in mind that these blessings are not based upon the prevailing economic circumstances, and that no power or force of the enemy can prevent or stop any of God’s blessing coming upon the sheep. Every sheep must steady His or Her heart on Jesus .

There are some serious consequences of not paying attention and following the Good Shepherd’s voice. The refusal of the sheep to obey the voice of the master (Jesus Christ) will result in grave consequences. When a sheep does not honoring the voice of the shepherd it gets lost , and exposing itself to danger. In our spiritual life, the believers is expected to obey His voice. When the voice of Good shepherd is not obeyed or followed the believer will be astray, and exposes their-selves to danger. Open to be attack by the enemy. The enemy uses such opportunity or chance to afflict the believer with sicknesses, diseases, failures, troubles and heartaches. However, it is encouraging to know that even in such situations the Good Shepherd, Jesus still goes in to search for the lost sheep. Calling on Jesus to repent and return to Him . It is never God’s expectation that we go astray from Him.

The Lord Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He is the only one who cares for you, who nourishes, preserves, protects, leads, guides and provides for the fullness of the sheep. There are numerous blessings God Bestows upon His sheep. These blessings can only be utilize by the obedient sheep. Jesus said in His word, “I know my sheep” ( John 10: 27b). He knows our strength as well as our weak points. He is aware of difficulties you are facing at your work , business, family or at your own home. Jesus knows the need of your Spirit your soul, and your body. Remember always that having Our Lord Jesus as the Good shepherd implies adequate care for you.
